Krewe of Boo, New Orleans
This New Orleans Mardi Gras-style Halloween parade has been an annual tradition since 2007. Colorful, decorated paper mache floats roll down the street throwing candy, toys, and of course, beads! Perhaps the best part is the morning of the parade is a zombie run, in which people dressed up as zombies run from “zombie killers” who are Big Easy Rollergirls!
The Spirit of Halloweentown Festival, St. Helens
Just 45 minutes from Portland, Oregon, the town of St. Helens puts on The Spirit of Halloween Festival. The small town is where Disney’s Halloweentown and Twilight were filmed. From mid-September through October, the town holds costume contests, trick-or-treating, and Halloween-themed events!
Pumpkin Festival, Laconia
Laconia, New Hampshire, about 50 minutes from Lincoln, puts on an annual pumpkin festival for 2 days in October. The historic downtown is packed with pumpkins, music, rides, food, a pumpkin cook-off, and a zombie walk! Back when the festival was held in Keene, New Hampshire, the festival set the bar for number of lighted jack-o-lanterns, and still holds the Guinness World Record, at 30,581. This festival is good fun for the whole family!
The Village Halloween Parade, NYC
This Halloween parade takes place in Greenwich Village in New York City, and is an exciting celebration for all! Decorated floats, costumed participants, giant puppets, and musical groups all rally to create the only nighttime parade in the United States! Spectators gather in the millions to witness the festivities.
Dollywood Harvest Festival, Pigeon Forge
Dollywood is a fan-favorite in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, but did you know that every fall they have their own harvest festival? Pumpkins by the thousands decorate and illuminate the park and the smell of delicious fall treats fills the air.
