Mayan Ruins
To anyone planning a trip to Cancun, we absolutely have to recommend visiting any and all Mayan ruins. The opportunity to stand within such a historical landscape just simply cannot be passed up. There are quite a few different sites to potentially visit with different structures to see. Some of these ruins are going to be busier than other lesser-known ones, and some do not allow guests to climb on the ruins, so be sure to do your research to select the ruins that best suit your interests! You can either visit the ruins on your own, or book a tour as well.
MUSA, the underwater museum
This attraction is simply… breathtaking (sorry, we had to). MUSA, or Museo Subacuático de Arte, is an underwater sculpture museum located just off the ever-popular beaches of Cancun. Spread over 3 sites, these sculptures are made of concrete and provide a very lovely function other than something cool to look at – they also serve as an artificial reef for marine life! You can explore MUSA 3 different ways: glass-bottom boat tours, snorkeling, or scuba diving! These tours range from $30-$165, and demand does increase during certain times of the year, so plan accordingly! Pro tip: Whale shark season is June-September, and these gentle giants can be seen swimming through MUSA! (This also makes MUSA busier during this time).
